Physical therapy was coming along great! First out of acute achillese tendonitis, to chronic, and they even said if I lived a sedentary life I'd be done! Yeah!
So last weekends work was to go for a 40-60 minute walk. I went to one of my favorite spots, Rocky Narrows. It has rolling hills, steep ledges, great trails, and it's right on the Charles River. Since it has been rainy the ground was a bit muddy.
Turns out that was not good :( lots of balancing and when I went to PT on Monday, she saw it was swollen again :( so we were back to the early parts of PT (no excercise but maassage)... I worked out 3 times during the week - doing Chalean Extreme - lighter weights and modifying the cardio. When I went on Friday my achilles tendonitis was even more inflamed :(
Trying to see the good in this:
- I will respect my body a lot more and when it hurts, I'll LISTEN!
- Realize extreme workouts (at least for me) became so much a part of my identity - I got out of balance! I am loving the spiritual focus, the focus on health.
- I've focused a lot more on nutrition - since I don't have the extreme calorie burn.
Over 2 years, I've gained 15 lbs. I'd like to loose prob 10 but it showed my FEAR of gaining a few lbs was completely unwarranted. My life didn't go down hill, in fact in many ways it is even better ! My physical results were great - even a bit better on some things!
I think a good rule of thumb is if you see a pic of yourself and your face looks gaunt but body looks great - you may have gone a bit too far.
- I'm measuring my self worth on a lot more than the scale now!
So I'm suppose to go for a walk this weekend but it hurts a lot... so I may listen to my body instead.. Learning to figure out what is pain to be respected and what is an excuse!
Well have a great week!
